Per questo lavoro ho cercato e osservato la sostanza fotografica e video che si trova in rete, relativa ad un certo contesto, ingrandisco le immagini sullo schermo e ne prendo spunto per realizzare sculture disegnate.
Metto in atto uno scambio di materiali: il video diveta un fermo immagine, il fermo immagine diventa un disegno, il disegno diventa una scutura disegnata che ricorda ossa, anatomie, bastoni. Insieme a queste forme ci sono disegni che formano un orizzonte, un pieno e un vuoto che potrebbero essere interscambiabili, cielo o montagne?
Mi piace il fatto che il disegno che si ottiene con un accostamento di moduli possa da uno arrivare al tanto e occupare fisicamente una stanza, occupare uno spazio con pochi pastelli e pennarelli e un gesto così semplice, partendo da qualcosa di immateriale come l'immagine sullo schermo.
For this work I have searched for and observed the photographic and video substance that can be found on the net, relating to a certain context, I enlarge the images on the screen and take inspiration from them to create drawn sculptures.
I put in place an exchange of materials: the video becomes a still image, the still image becomes a drawing, the drawing becomes a drawn frame that resembles bones, anatomies, sticks. Along with these shapes are there designs that form a horizon, a full and a void that could be interchangeable, sky or mountains?
I like the fact that the drawing that is obtained with a combination of modules can go from one to a lot and physically occupy a room, occupy a space with a few crayons and markers and such a simple gesture, starting from something immaterial like the image on the screen.

Ho ripreso l’azione, iniziata in uno dei miei primi lavori, di riempire tempo e spazio con un gesto molto semplice che da come risultato un grande disegno , a crescita lunga e lenta. In questo caso è un gesto informale, con forme che scaturiscono liberamente, utilizzando diversi colori. Il materiale è quotidiano, banalissimo, una risma di foglietti A5 e dei pennarelli quasi esauriti. Mi piace l’effetto visivo che si crea, leggermente sfuocato, non molto controllato. Nello svuotamento del lockdown del 2020, il gesto semplice permette di far emergere ricordi, considerazioni, evocazioni. Sono presenti e necessari due aspetti, quello materiale e quello interiore e uno realizza l’altro. Ho riempito una parete di casa, perché qui mi sono trovata per due mesi, accostando i fogli secondo uno schema libero e istintivo, in modo che si formi qualcosa che non decido io ma che dipende dai singoli disegni fatti, una specie di domino. Come in altri miei lavori mi piace cominciare qualcosa che immagino infinito, che si sviluppa nel tempo e nello spazio, da qualcosa di piccolo a qualcosa che contiene la somma di tutte le piccolezze. E il percorso fatto si manifesta, insieme alla sensazione di pienezza data dal fatto di avere in casa una grande quantità di materiale da utilizzare e di tempo da dedicare. E’ un atto ripetitivo, evocativo e di manifestazione di questo particolare stato per cui nella limitazione si trova un senso di ampliamento e di ricchezza. Elementi e azioni molto semplici e banali prendono spazio e intensità con il loro corpo sottile, proprio come i pennarelli, quando sono alla fine.
I resumed the action, begun in one of my first works, of filling time and space with a very simple gesture that results in a big drawing, with long and slow growth. In this case it is an informal gesture, with shapes that spring freely, using different colors. Supplies is daily, very banal, a ream of A5 sheets and almost exhausted markers. I like the visual effect that is created, slightly blurred, not very controlled. In the emptying of the 2020 lockdown, the simple gesture allows memories, considerations, evocations to emerge. Two aspects are present and necessary, the material and the internal, and one realizes the other. I filled a wall of my home, because I stayed here for two months, juxtaposing the sheets according to a free and instinctive scheme, so that something is formed that I do not decide but that depends on the individual drawings made, a kind of domino. As in my other works, I like to start something that I imagine to be infinite, that develops in time and space, from something small to something that contains the sum of all the small things. And the path taken manifests itself, along with the feeling of fullness given by the fact of having at home a large amount of supplies to use and time to devote. It is a repetitive, evocative act and manifestation of this particular state for which in the limitation there is a sense of expansion and richness. Very simple and commone elements and actions take up space and intensity with their subtle body, just like markers, when they are at the end.

Questo lavoro e’ stato realizzato in occasione del “Premio Basi per l’arte contemporanea”. Il concorso prevedeva alcune “regole” che ho seguito lasciandomi condurre attraverso queste. L’idea viene da un racconto di John Cheever nel quale un uomo decide di tornare a casa a nuoto, attraverso le piscine della zona in cui vive, unendole in un percorso disegnato nella sua mente e che chiama fiume. Io ho voluto disegnare il percorso di un fiume inventato e intermittente che collega le piscine della zona che va da San Flora a Bagni di Roselle. Il primo suggerimento dato era quello del luogo: ho scelto due località tra quelle in cui si svolge l’esposizione. Il suggerimento del tema era l’acqua. Come il protagonista del racconto che pensa di vivere in un mondo cosi’ generosamente fornito di acqua sia un dono del cielo, una benedizione, trovo che la piscina come luogo fisico e come immagine rappresenti l’idea di abbondanza e spensieratezza. Per la scelta della categoria ho deciso per il disegno. Anche se oggi mi lascio affascinare dalle fantastiche immagini della superficie terrestre offerte dai satelliti e disponibili in qualsiasi momento, per me il concetto di mappa è ancora molto legato al disegno, che e’ stato quindi una scelta naturale. I disegni sono una trascrizione di immagini satellitari e sono un modo per scoprire e percorrere il territorio. Infine, la regola della misura: 100 x 100 cm. I disegni dei singoli luoghi con piscina disposti uno dopo l’altro formano un percorso all’interno della misura suggerita dal regolamento, come l’acqua che si dispone in un contenitore. Ho scelto il quadrato perche’ e’ la forma piu’ ampia in cui svolgere il percorso.
This work was created on the occasion of the "Premio Basi per l’arte contemporanea". The competition included some "rules" that I followed letting myself be inspired by these. The idea comes from a short story by John Cheever in which a man decides to swim home, through the pools of the area where he lives, connecting them in a path drawn in his mind and which he calls a river. I wanted to draw the path of an invented and intermittent river that connects the swimming pools in the area from San Flora to Bagni di Roselle. The first suggestion given was the place: I chose two locations among those where the exhibition takes place. The suggestion of the theme was water. As the protagonist of the story who thinks that living in a world so generously supplied with water is a gift from heaven, a blessing, I think the swimming pool as a physical place and as an image represents the idea of abundance and lightheartedness. For the choice of the category I decided for the drawing. Although today I am fascinated by the fantastic images of the Earth's surface offered by satellites and available at any time, for me the concept of the map is still very much linked to drawing, which was therefore a natural choice. The drawings are a transcription of satellite images and are a way to discover and travel the territory. Finally, the rule of size: 100 x 100 cm. The drawings of the individual places with swimming pools arranged one after the other form a path within the measure suggested by the award rules, like water organize itself in a container. I chose the square because it is the widest shape in which to carry out the path.
